Middle School Beginning Band
Beginning Band is being offered during the school day at Las Colinas and Monte Vista Middle Schools. No previous musical experience needed! Beginning Band will teach students the art of playing a musical instrument in a group setting. Instruction is available for the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, and Bells (Percussion). Students need an instrument and Standard of Excellence Book 1 (method book). Percussionists will need a bell kit, drum pad and drum sticks.
Middle School Intermediate Band
Intermediate Band is being offered during the school day at Las Colinas and Monte Vista Middle Schools. Students with at least 1 year of experience on a band instrument may join Intermediate Band. Students will develop their technique and teamwork skills while playing a variety of music and performing at several different events throughout the school year. Students need an instrument and Standard of Excellence Books 1 & 2.
Middle School Advanced Band
Advanced Band is being offered during the school day at Las Colinas and Monte Vista Middle Schools. Students with more than 2 years of experience on a band instrument may audition to join Advanced Band. Students will continue to develop their technique and teamwork skills, have leadership opportunities, and play a wide variety of music from rock/pop to classical to jazz. Advanced Band students perform at a variety of events throughout the school year and also get to participate in special activities including a recording studio workshop at Disneyland. Students need an instrument and Standard of Excellence Books 2 & 3.
